What is Temazcal?
Experience a traditional sweat lodge, with Mayan indigenous roots.
The ceremony is a spiritual and physical purification ritual. It takes place in a small, dark, dome-shaped structure, often made of volcanic stone, mud, or adobe, which is meant to represent the womb of Mother Earth.
The ritual is often tied to the four elements:
Earth: The Temazcal structure
Fire: The heated volcanic stones
Water: The infused water poured on the stones
Air: The steam and breath within the lodge
Temazcal ceremonies offer physical benefits, such as detoxification and stress relief, as well as profound spiritual and meditative qualities.
We will be on the land of Rene Avila, and her family - who come from Mayan origin and has been making Temazcal for more than 5 years. Teaching her culture through traditional medicine, she knows that Mother Nature offers a lot of Wisdom and Knowledge to the modern world. A translator will be present.
“Choosing to do this is a gift to yourself, it’s an act of self love”
